It’s not all bad! THREE reasons why Sunderland fans should be hopeful of relegation survival

Well! Who knew?

Sunderland youngsters show the way ahead for Chris Coleman

Actually, the article is better than the headline makes it sound. Annoyingly I couldn't reuse my sarcastic who knew comment. - More typing.

Kone did well and Embleton (please note Mr Coleman) and the result was a corker.

I can forgive an occasional lash up but not the serial shoddy sensationalism of HITC.

Although I never saw him play I heard he was likely to break through.

Rees Greenwood and Callum Williams: Gateshead sign ex-Sunderland winger and Newcastle defender

Gateshead have signed winger Rees Greenwood on a short-term deal following his release by Sunderland.

The Tynesiders have also re-signed defender Callum Williams on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season after a successful initial stay.

Greenwood, 21, made a single Premier League appearance for the Black Cats at Watford in May 2016.

Williams, 20, played 18 games for Heed in his first spell, the most recent a 1-1 draw with Torquay on 12 December.

I know Sheff U and Cardiff during that run were big defeats but in one the whole team failed to turn up and in the other we were 0-0 at half time and 1-0 and a player down early in the 2nd half. I do think we need a back up keeper with more confidence than Steele seems to have at the moment, not sure if Strykjek (sp) is ready to do a Pickford yet. Someone who watches the U23 like conaboy might know.

I was actually trying to extract the michael out of the journalists. It's the law of unintended consequences.

After last night , I take these comments back, RR could and should have done better with at least two of those Birmingham goals.

Yes Tufts, you could sum the match up - GOALKEEPER, DEFENCE + Goalkeeper and GOALKEEPER.

Now the Lonergan loan is off:

DEADLINE DAY: EXCLUSIVE - Andy Lonergan’s pre-agreed move from Leeds to Sunderland is OFF
A source has revealed that despite an agreement being in place for Andy Lonergan’s move to Sunderland from Leeds, the deal is OFF. Just where do Sunderland turn next?

Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan’s move to Sunderland from Leeds United is off, a source has revealed to Roker Report.

Despite a deal between the player and the club being agreed last week, “a complication came up that neither he or the club could get over”, and the transfer is off, with Sunderland now forced to scramble around in order to find an alternative before the transfer window closes at 11pm.

The player is said to be ‘bitterly disappointed’ about the breakdown in talks, and has only good things to say about Chris Coleman and Kit Symons, who have been very easy to deal with throughout negotiations.

Lonergan was, as of yesterday, expected to move to Sunderland and though Chris Coleman stopped short of confirming that it was over the line, he did concede that it was close.
