Sunderland’s January transfer business - a cause for cautious optimism or genuine concern?

This past month has cemented the notion that the club have fallen from grace; however, could recent signings be cause for cautious optimism?

Echo(Northern) inferred/stated that it was Steele turned down the move when Derby changed the terms. Illuminatingly read somewhere else that Coleman said after the window closed "People lie"
